Mahaja Paintings and Sculptures

This sculpture is called the "Honorable Crown". It was created for the baccalaureate service in the month of April 2014.

"I was inspired by the thought of what a graduate is after college. The left hand has an olive branch, which represents Goshen College, and a way to say the storm is over, just to give hope for the future. And the right hand has a bird feeder, which to me means the skills and knowledge that every graduate has acquired from Goshen College and the community, and feeding the birds is a way to show appreciation to nature. In the piece I also incorporated some basketball materials; these represent all the athletes and their struggles. The pose shows moving forward, which illustrates the next thing in life after graduation." - Sunday Mahaja
